Paddy Power took its social media interaction to a whole new level after "catfishing" a man who thought he was talking to a woman he met the night before in "Dicey's" bar.

The cringe-worthy conversation makes you feel sorry for Steve

After exchanging numbers, Steve ended up with an incorrect one and as a result ended up calamitously texting a Paddy Power PR official.

The PR man later broadcast the chat through the Paddy Power Twitter account, which has over 400,000 followers, leading Steve to believe he was in fact talking to the woman from the night before.

Paddy Power has still to announce what Steve’s reward will be after the live-tweeting terror they put him through.

This comes after a number of controversial tweets from the bookmaker, such as its trolling of former Manchester United manager David Moyes.

However, the cheeky bookmaker says it is proud of its mischievous streak, with Paddy Power global marketing director, Christian Woolfenden, earlier this year telling the Drum: "We're disappointed if we don't get complaints."
