Just Eat, the online takeaway ordering platform, has grown its active user base by 35 per cent to 6.9 million in the last year and now has over half of its orders made through mobile, having invested £15.2 million on marketing.

The company has announced its half year figures, including revenue growth of 58 per cent to £69.8m and an underlying profit increase of 591 per cent to £15.9m having grown its brand across each of its 13 territories through digital, trade and brand campaigns, including the sponsorship of ITV dating show, Take Me Out.

Over the last year, the platform has also claimed that it processed orders worth £465m for its 40,800 takeaway restaurants.

David Buttress, chief executive for Just Eat, said that he was ‘delighted’ with the progress of the business during the first half of the year.

“We are accelerating our mobile strategy across all our geographies and in the UK over 56 per cent of orders are already being placed via apps or through a mobile device. Our growing network of more than 40,000 restaurant partners combined with 6.9 million active users provides further momentum to fuel our expansion through the remainder of 2014 and beyond,” he added.

Just Eat also took up sponsorship of Championship side, Derby County in May.
