People on the Move: Departures this week at Net-a-Porter, SMG, Mondelez, and STV

The Drum takes a look at this week’s industry moves with departures at Net-a-Porter, SMG, Mondelez, and STV as well as new hires at Diageo, Fitch, Morrisons, and DigitasLBi.

Net-a-Porter

Net-a-Porter’s chief executive Mark Sebba left the online fashion giant this week after 11 years in the role.

Sebba, who came on board only three years after the company was founded, will remain a non-executive director following his retirement.

Diageo

Drinks giant Diageo has lured Nicola Mendelsohn from Facebook where she served as vice president, EMEA.

She will serve as a non-executive director, taking up the new role in September this year. She will also join Diageo's audit, nomination and remuneration committees.

STV

STV's digital publishing editor, Shaun Milne is to leave the station after almost four years. A replacement has not yet been named, and he has not believed to have another job to go to.

Mondelez

This week also saw Mondelez’s chief marketing officer Mary Beth West exit the business as part of a complete board-level restructure to a region category-led operating model.

Effective immediately marketing of the company’s portfolio of brands now falls within Mark Clouse’s remit. He has been named chief growth officer, a newly created position which will see him accountable for all of the key areas of the company's growth strategy including corporate strategy, global categories, global marketing, global sales, and research, development and quality.

Morrisons

Former Tesco finance director Andrew Higginson has replaced Sir Ian Gibson as chairman of Morrisons.

Higginson, who is currently chairman of Poundland, will join the Morrisons board this October in the capacity of non-executive deputy chairman and chairman elect. Gibson is set to retire in 2015.

Starcom MediaVest

After 17 years at the company Stewart Easterbrook is to exit Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG).

Easterbrook was named executive director performance and digital development for Europe just 10 months ago after a five year stint as UK chief executive.

He is now pursuing other interests in the technology, data and mobile space.

AOL

This week, Marta Martinez was promoted to global head of video sales at AOL.

Previously head of sales strategy and operations at the company, Martinez will oversee all sales and strategy efforts to accelerate AOL’s video proposition.

Fitch

Fitch has expanded its creative division with five promotions, elevating Alasdair Lennox to the newly created role of executive creative director to lead the new team.

Also promoted were Phil Heys and John Regan from design directors to creative directors and Anna Chimes and Paul Chatalier from associate design directors to design directors.

The View from the Shard

The View from the Shard has replaced outgoing marketing director Laura McCarthy with Anna Domingo, who has previously worked for Top of The Rock’ at the Rockefeller Centre and the Empire State Building in New York in the same role.

McCarthy has left to take on the regeneration and re-launch of Dreamland amusement park in Margate, Kent.

DigitasLBi

DigitasLBi has poached Harry Pugsley from McCann London, where he was planning partner, to take on the role of creative strategy director.

Set to be based in DigitasLBi’s London office, Pugsley will report into Ed Beard, head of creative strategy.

UTV Media

Howard Bareham has departed from his role of head of radio at Mindshare and GroupM to join UTV Media as commercial development director.

He has been tasked with maximising and developing commercial revenues across UTV’s key assets in GB including talkSPORT, Sport magazine, talkSPORT International, UTV’s digital media and 13 independent local radio stations in England and Wales.
