Petition gives The Sun hell over concocted ‘Satan son’ story
A petition calling for the Press Complaints Commission to take action against The Sun over a recent fanciful ‘Mark of the Devil’ story has been signed by over 5,000 people concerned for the welfare of the 4-year old boy at the heart of the non-story.
Boasting of an ‘exclusive’ Tuesday’s edition of the tabloid screamed ‘Boy, 4 has mark of Devil’ from its front page, before an image of the child in question with a red mark applied to his chest.
The paper’s editors, in cahoots with the child's mother, didn't take any account of the child’s privacy, reproducing his photograph and displaying his name and home town within the body of the piece - causing Twitter users and MP’s to liken it to child abuse.
How can front page splash, p5 feature & editorial suggesting an identified child 'branded by Satan' be lighthearted? http://t.co/S3JtX0MkmB

The petition states: “This 4 year old child is shown, named, along with his parents and home town. What long-term effects is this likely to have on the child?"
