UK Uncut is today “occupying online” as Vodafone’s annual shareholder meeting takes place in London, with over 2,000 tweets being sent complaining about the company not paying its taxes.

"On Tuesday July 29th at 11am, Vodafone will be celebrating their biggest day of the year – they’ve got their annual shareholder meeting in London, a chance to get together and pat themselves on the back for another year of sky high profits and rock bottom tax," the protesters said in a statement.

“Last month people up and down the country occupied their stores to protest. On Tuesday let’s occupy Vodafone online. We can use their own social media channels against them and spread the word about Vodafone’s tax dodging, and the government’s refusal to do anything about it."

Now trending in the UK, tweets using the tag #VodafoneAGM, with many suggesting what the £6bn owed could be used for.
