Quiztrail, a location-based gaming platform, designed to ‘gamify’ the experience of trail walking, has been launched.

Developed by Apppli and launched in collaboration with TV presenter Dan Snow, the Quiztrail app allows users to create, take and share trails (interactive pathways, punctuated by points of interest) anywhere in the world. At each point of interest, players are prompted to answer a question on their surroundings or their general knowledge.

Players compete with others playing the same trail and those who create trails can choose a pay-to-play model, incentivising content creation and encouraging deeper engagement across the platform.

Tom Merchant, Quiztrail’s founder and CEO, said: “Quiztrail is a completely fresh take on the outdoor quiz. Working with Apppli, we set out to create a truly innovative outdoor experience that would tie in key themes of discovery, serendipity and reward in a single immersive environment.”

Nader Alaghband, CEO at Apppli, said: “Quiztrail is a perfect tool for marketers looking to drive footfall. We were really pleased to have the opportunity to build an exciting piece of adtech that simultaneously offers its users such a unique and compelling experience.”

Quiztrail is available in the app store and at www.quiztrail.com.
