Heathrow & VisitBritain launch Facebook comp for £1m advertising campaign

Heathrow Airport and tourism body VisitBritain have teamed up to offer one UK region a free £1m advertising campaign at the London airport, by asking Facebook members what their favourite places are.

YourGreatBritain sees users of the social media platform invited to vote for their favourite spots by simply ‘liking’ that region.

Four areas are currently in contention with Hadrians Wall in the north east currently leading the way with 3,790 ‘likes’, closely followed by the Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland, which has 1,491.

In third spot is the Lake District in the north west which has secured 661 ‘likes’ thus far with Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire, bringing up the rear with just 306 likes.
