LinkedIn acquires business marketing firm Bizo for $175m

Professional social network LinkedIn has acquired marketing agency Bizo in a deal worth $175m as it looks to capitalise on the firm's B2B expertise.

LinkedIn, which has over 300 million members worldwide, will focus Bizo’s technology on measuring social advertising programs specifically aimed at the network’s professional audience.

The $175m acquisition will be paid 90 per cent in cash and 10 per cent in stock at a point later this year.

Deep Nishar, senior vice president of product and user experience at LinkedIn, said: “It’s exciting for us to bring Bizo's expertise and technology into our ecosystem.

"Our ability to integrate their B2B solutions with our content marketing products will enable us to become the most effective platform for B2B marketers to engage professionals."

Russell Glass, co-founder and CEO of Bizo, said: “We have been a LinkedIn partner for a while now and it became clear that our respective missions and cultures are really well aligned.

“I couldn't be more thrilled that we are coming together to accelerate our ability to reach professional audiences, nurture prospects, and acquire customers in truly powerful ways."

Based in San Francisco, Bizo was founded in 2008 by Russell Glass, Bryan Burdick, Donnie Flood, Mark Dye, Lee Byrne and Yonatan Stern.
