British Rowing, the national governing body for rowing in England, has chosen UVD as its long-term technology partner for indoor rowing projects following a competitive pitch.

The body has tasked UVD with developing a set of products for the RowActiv brand, starting with a mobile app to connect with Concept2 indoor rowing machines. The app will integrate with analytical software and a consumer-facing site, where users can download tailored session programmes, view their activity, compare workouts and share with friends.

Rich Stock, head of insight and product development at British Rowing said of the appointment: "British Rowing wanted a partner who are experienced in developing technology solutions that form the core of a business and this is an area that UVD excel in. We wanted a team that would work with us to design and deliver the right product rather than simply delivering on an initial specification."

British Rowing aims to make indoor rowing “the new way to exercise” through group and individual participation and hope that by developing the RowActiv brand it will attract new participants as well as increasing the popularity of rowing as a regular form of exercise.
