People on the move: new hires at L’Oréal, Bauer Media, Guardian, Facebook, JWT and more

This week has seen another wave of appointments at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key hires below.

L’Oréal UK & Ireland

L’Oréal UK & Ireland has appointed former marketing and innovation director for Diageo in Vietnam, Hugh Pile, to the newly created role of chief marketing officer, amid a "regroup" at the company.

Bauer Media

Bauer Radio’s digital commercial director, Jo Baldwin, has been promoted to take on the role across the wider Bauer Media group. She will be responsible for driving the growth of ‘non-traditional digital revenues’ and ‘supporting the digitalisation’ of the sales teams.

The brand has also hired Nick Button as place portfolio marketing director to look after its portfolio of 16 radio stations in the North of England and Scotland. He will lead a regional marketing team of six, and develop multi-platform strategies to drive growth, engagement, loyalty and commercial value across the radio portfolio

Facebook

Smirnoff VP for global marketing Michelle Klein is leaving the world's biggest vodka brand for Facebook, where she is expected to play a big role managing agency relationships.

A Facebook spokesman confirmed Klein's hiring and said her title would be head of global agency marketing.

JWT

JWT London has promoted Neil Godber to head of planning just 18 months after joining the practice as deputy head. The new role will see Godber develop the strategic direction of the agency’s clients.

Weve

Tim Hipperson has been named Weve’s interim CEO with immediate effect, charged with ensuring a smooth transition as former CEO David Sear exits the business.

Hipperson resigned as CEO of Zenithoptimedia in November last yearfollowing the loss of the £135m L’Oreal account to Maxus.

ais London

Daryl Frost has joined ais London as head of planning, overseeing a number of key accounts including the Vodafone and Waitrose business. He joins from BBH where he was head of planning.

Mail Newspapers

Mail Newspapers has appointed Andrea Harris in a new role as commercial head of partnerships. Previously head of promotions for The Mail on Sunday, Harris will work to ensure that advertisers are able to easily access the full range of commercial opportunities at Mail Newspapers.

Starcom Mediavest Group

Starcom Mediavest Group has appointed former Havas director Frank Durrell to the newly created role of digital strategy and technology director of Global Network Clients.

Durrell, who most recently was customer relationship management director at Havas EHS, will be responsible for helping drive digital integration and innovation.

ESI Media

Metro managing director (MD) Steve Auckland is leaving the company to become chief executive of ESI Media companies ESL, IPL and ESTV.

Auckland will take up the role in October and the move follows the departure of group MD Andrew Mullins a week ago

Cohn and Wolfe

Global communications agency, Cohn and Wolfe, has named Laura Giannatempo and Zach Perles as senior vice presidents of consumer practice.

The appointments will bring integrated marketing expertise to the growing agency.

Twentysix

Twentysix, the digital agency, has appointed Kristal Ireland as head of social media.

Joining from her previous role as director of strategy at Enjoy Digital, Ireland will be working in the Leeds office of the agency.

Guardian News & Media

Guardian News & Media have appointed Eamonn Store as CEO of the Guardian US where he will assume command of the business, digital innovation and commercial operations of the American side of the business.

DLKW Lowe

DLKW Lowe has announced the appointment of Alexandre Okada as global creative director on Persil, leading the creative department across the network dedicated to the Unilever detergent brand.

Kitcatt Nohr

Kitcatt Nohr has promoted head of client services Annette Blunden to the role of deputy managing director and will assume the new role following her return from maternity leave.

She will overseeing client service and agency operations.

Additionally, Cosham, currently business director at the agency, will now take on the role of client partner. Reporting directly to Blunden, cosham will head up the day to day running of client service.

Love

Love as boosted both their creative and account management teams with seven new talented recruits. They join the agency on the back of a host of new business wins including Virgin Atlantic and UltimateFighting Championship (UFC) plus new projects from existing client Diageo.

Andy Buchan has been appointed to head of digital, Rob Sanderson joins the creative team as a creative head, Richard Attwater will serve as account director, Andy Lafferty joins as a senior creative, Ben Fearnley has been appointed to work on 3D design, Tom Nicklin also joins the creative team from Ubiquitous and Jonathon Tahanha joins as senior account manager.

HGA Creative

Creative communications agency HGA Creative has made a number of key appointments: Laura Bailey, formerly of Owl Live joins as senior event producer; Sophie Parkinson has been recruited from fresh Group to the newly created role of head of event development. Steve Hartley, previously head of creative services at Liverpool FC has joined as head of creative across HGA Creative’s events, design, film and video and digital businesses.

Exponential

Brian O’Sullivan has been appointed as UK commercial director at Exponential Interactive, joining from VisualDNA where he was managing director of its Media division.

He will be responsible for running Exponential’s sales team and overseeing the large commercial trading agreements.

Park Resorts

Holiday park operator Park Resorts has appointed Iain Richards as sales and marketing director. Iain joins the company, which operates 46 holiday parks across the UK, from GLH Hotels and replaces Richie Jones in the role.
