Australian recovery service RAC Roadside Assistance is reminding drivers that breakdowns can happen anytime, anywhere with a new tongue-in-cheek campaign.

Devised by JWT Perth in collaboration with JWT Sydney, the two 30-second TVCs will run on free-to-air and pay TV in Australia from this week.

“The ‘What are the chances’ campaign aims to reinforce the message that breakdowns actually happen a lot more often than you may think, however RAC Roadside Assistance is always on hand to help,” said JWT Sydney’s ECD Simon Langley. “What are the chances of these actually happening? Actually, it could be pretty high, after all RAC Roadside Assistance rescues someone every minute.”

The first ad sees a group of young women dressed as risqué nuns ready for a hen night when their car breaks down opposite a van full of real nuns. The second spot shows sickie-taking surfer, Christopher, who breaks down opposite his boss.

Tom Noakes at Photoplay directed both spots.
