Former Weve CEO David Sear describes platform as "a bloody miracle" as he warns advertisers away from Google & Facebook in leaving speech
Weve is a "bloody miracle" the company's outgoing CEO, Dave Sear has described in his departing speech during its launch party.
The mobile commerce platform celebrated the completion of its three-month trial with a launch party at Cafe de Paris in London, where Sear, who has led the company for the last 18 months, gave his departing words as he handed over to new newly appointed interim CEO, Tim Hipperson.
Sear discussed the difficulty that a company that brought together traditional competitors such as Vodafone, EE and O2 faced, and lauded his team for being able to make it work beyond its trial period.
"There is no other business in the world that has created this kind of opportunity for the media space," he stated, before warning the room that "if you're in the media business right now then you should be buying display advertising from Weve...if you don't you can spend the rest of your careers giving money to Facebook and Google and I don't think you really want to do that."
Sear has now stepped aside to become chief commercial officer at online payment platform, Skrill.
