Germany’s World Cup win sparks brand gold rush Global brands from McDonald’s and Samsung to Adidas and Beats by Dr Dre have been scrabbling to bask in the reflected glory of Germany’s World Cup win, with a series of congratulatory tweets. Samsung Mobile led the charge with a ‘passion pulse’, charting the propagation of tweets pertaining to the clash from around the globe.

Perennial World Cup stalwarts Adidas also joined the fray with a YouTube clip titled ‘Germany 4ever’, recounting some of the key moments from the national teams’ road to glory. The sportswear brand also got its sleeves rolled up on Twitter, congratulating the German squad on their trophy win.

Beats by Dr Dre meanwhile focussed on goal scorer Mario Gotze, whose winning goal clinched the title. By fortuitous coincidence the player was the star of the brand’s recent advertising campaign.

McDonald’s got in on the action with a bacon burger homage to Germany whose fans had no doubt worked up an appetite having partied all night.

Meanwhile, Budweiser drafted in Rihanna for the match.

For its part payments provider Visa highlighted the ‘disciplined, dynamic and skillful’ squad.

For its part betting brand Ladbrokes chose to focus on the goalkeepers asking which had performed best at protecting their nets.
