Gumtree hires Gioia Manetti to newly created chief customer officer role
Gumtree, the classifieds website, has brought in Gioia Manetti to a newly created chief customer officer role.
Responsible for marketing, customer support, and the core product team she has also been charged with supporting the business strategy.
Manetti reports into Robin Voogd, general manager, who said: “We always put our users first in everything we do at Gumtree – and it’s Gioia will focus on ensuring they have a safe and successful experience. Bringing her know-how into the management team will undoubtedly help us grow our business in a customer-focused way.”
Manetti joins from eBay’s office in Italy, where she was the general manager of classifieds site Kijiji.
Last week, Gumtree was forced to defend its safety policies after the Citizen's Advice Bureau issued a warning to users that one in every six of the consumer complaints associated with Gumtree are the result of a scam or fraud.
