The Drum takes a look at this week’s industry moves with new hires at Burberry, John Lewis, MediaCom Manchester, BBH London and more.

Paul Jackson joins VideoJug Networks

Burberry

Earlier this week The Drum reported that Burberry has appointed BBC Worldwide’s digital chief Daniel Heaf senior VP of digital commerce.

Heaf, who has been chief digital officer at the commercial arm of the BBC for the last four years, begun his new role at the fashion retailer on 30 June.

Sky Media

Sky Media has appointed Rachel Bristow to the newly created role of director of client partnerships & collaboration, a position designed to build broader and deeper partnerships with advertisers.

Bristow arrives at Sky having spent nine years at Unilever where she latterly held the post of VP Global, media ata Analytics.

John Lewis

Louise Cooper has been appointed head of external communications at John Lewis, a newly created role.

She has been tasked with overseeing all areas of PR for the business, across both consumer and corporate disciplines.

Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH)

BBH London has promoted Mel Exon to managing director, replacing Charlie Rudd, who has been appointed to the newly created position of chief operating officer.

Videojug

Online video production and publishing company, Videojug has appointed director and producer Paul Jackson – previously producer of Hell’s Kitchen and Red Dwarf – as consultant, content and channels.

Jackson’s brief is to develop Videojug’s how-to site, into a competitor to businesses including Buzzfeed, Vice and Rightster and to enhance Videojug Network’s content production capabilities for brands and agency partners.

As part of the changes, Tom Laidlaw steps down as CEO after successful six year tenure at Videojug Networks.

AudienceScience

AudienceScience this week announced that Visual IQ’s Frank Suljic has joined the ad technology firm as VP of sales.

In his role Suljic will focus on growing the company’s enterprise customer base and helping strategic advertisers address issues of transparency and accountability in their interactive marketing efforts.

Previously, Suljic served as CRO at Visual IQ and has held sales positions at IBM, Oracle and Siebel Systems.

ais London

Louise Roberts and Iain Munro have joined the account handling team at ais London to look after the agency’s latest win National Express and longest standing client, Skoda, respectively.

Roberts, who previously held roles at Sapient Nitro and BBH, will manage the coach company’s CRM and content account, incorporating social and digital in developing their strategic approach to CRM.

Munro will head up the Skoda account, covering CRM, social, digital and data strategy for the automotive brand. He has previously held roles at Geronimo where he led the Direct Line account.

Infectious Media

Infectious Media, the real-time advertising specialist, has appointed Myriam Benamar as optimisation director in addition to three ad tech professionals.

Benamar joins from MediaCom where she held the position of head of operations and brand technology and will be responsible for improving campaign performance.

JCDecaux

Outdoor advertising company JCDecaux has hired Rob Elms as sales director of the airport division.

Currently head of trading at Future, Elms has a wealth of media experience working for both agencies and media owners, including: MediaCom, MediaVest and MEC. Elms will head the sales team responsible for eight UK airport and rail environments, including Heathrow.

MediaCom Manchester

MediaCom Manchester has appointed Karyn Fleeting to the newly created position of head of organic content within the agency’s dedicated digital division, i-Lab.

Starting this week, Fleeting will be tasked with exploring innovative new content solutions to help drive i-Lab’s SEO proposition forward, as well as shaping the agency’s organic content proposition.

Prior to her move to MediaCom, Fleeting was Stowe Family Law’s director of communications and has held roles at Vogue and The Mail on Sunday.

Access

Access has appointed James Brady, previously of Marketecture, as head of content.

He will lead Access’s newly launched Content division, with the remit to enhance and expand upon the integrated agency’s established digital, B2B, and creative offer.

Southpaw

As part of an ongoing recruitment drive Southpaw has made a trio of new senior appointments in the past month.

David Ham, who has previously held financial roles with businesses including Cordiant plc, McCann Erickson and Initiative, joins Southpaw as its new finance director.

Sarah Lockett takes up the role of project director, while Lee Probert joins as creative technologist, following 20 years of experience in interactive media, including roles with Ogilvy, The Cloud and Agnitio.

The latest hires follow the appointments last year of Tom Poynter (former chief exec of Iris) as group managing director and Niki Macartney (former board account planner at DLKW Lowe) as planning director.

Cannes Lions

Amanda Benfell, head of press and PR at Cannes Lions has announced that she is leaving her role after 18 years.

She will be replaced by Camilla Cole, currently press and public relations offer at the festival.
