Sites which have the ‘intent to arouse’ have been banned from advertising on Google, in a change which came into effect this week.

Google bans porn ads

A Google spokesperson told NBC that it was expected that porn sites would be looking to other advertising venues following the clamp down, although some restrictions had already been put in place on Google.

Companies which would be affected were notified of the policy change in an email, which stated: “we'll no longer accept ads that promote graphic depictions of sexual acts including, but not limited to, hardcore pornography; graphic sexual acts including sex acts such as masturbation; genital, anal, and oral sexual activity.

“We ask that you make any necessary changes to your ads and sites to comply so that your campaigns can continue to run.”

Google will now disapprove all ads and sites that are identified as being in violation of the revised policy.
