KLM apologises for joking about Mexico defeat with moustache and sombrero picture

Dutch airline KLM has apologised after sending a tweet after Mexico was knocked out the World Cup featuring a man with a moustache and sombrero depicted on a Departures sign, with the words ‘Adios Amigos’.Now deleted, the post sparked complaints which have led to KLM apologising.Marnix Fruitema, director general of KLM in North America, said: "In the best of sportsmanship, we offer our heartfelt apologies to those who have been offended by the comment.”Mexican airline AeroMexico then sent its own tweet, featuring an Arrivals sign and welcoming the team home by saying "Thank you for this great championship. You've made us proud and we're waiting for you at home."
