With technology enabling images to be dismissed with a simple swipe Getty Images and OppositeDays have signed up to explore what photography really means in a digital world and how brands, publishers and agencies can create something more meaningful at this year’s The Drum Live.

Hosted by Mel McVeigh from OppositeDays the session at this year’s event, which will again see The Drum create an issue over the course of one day in front of a live audience, will discuss how photography relates to personal experience by delving into a variety of themes including identity, age and sport amongst others.

Part improvisation, part experiments, the fully immersive session will reveal how images and stories can impact what we think, feel and believe with a panel of expert speakers exploring the role and impact of photography on our collective memories.

Others participating in the session alongside McVeigh include Cheyney Robinson, creative director at SapientNitro, and Bats in Belfries partner, Rochelle Dancell, with more to be confirmed.

Taking place on Wednesday 9 July the theme for this year’s The Drum Live is ‘What can be achieved in a day?’ with Unilever, Weve, Asda, She Says, Buzzfeed, Bitcoin and more taking part in the event. More information on what to expect and how to book tickets can be found on The Drum Live website.
