Phil Neville’s England commentary lambasted on Twitter
It isn’t just England’s on-pitch performance that is coming under scrutiny from fans after viewers of the teams opening match against Italy at the World Cup took to Twitter to rail against the ‘robotic’ intonations of Phil Neville – drafted in as commentator on BBC1.Neville was lambasted for a ‘dull’ narration by viewers as the home nation sunk to an early defeat with damning opinions emerging from the likes of South Warwickshire Police, who pledged to use the rambling recordings to disperse youths.
will be playing recordings of Phil Neville all night to keep the streets all calm and sleepy. Remember respect residents #KnowYourLimit
— Policing South Warks (@SWarksCops) June 14, 2014Chief complaint amongst those who sat through the BBC’s coverage was Neville’s monosyllabic delivery as the former Manchester United and Everton star failed to show much enthusiasm for the goings on in Brazil.Neville himself took it all on the chin however, vowing to reprise his role for follow-up match commentary.1st live co-comm last night-sometimes u have to take the criticism - it will only make me better- thanks for the feedback(ahhahaha)!
