Twitter’s chief operating officer Ali Rowghani has stepped down from his role, announcing the move on the social network by tweeting “Goodbye Twitter”.However, according to a report filed by Twitter to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Rowghani will remain "a Twitter employee and act as a strategic advisor to the CEO."

Dick Costello, CEO of twitter, thanked Rowghani, saying “Thank you for being an incredible executive & partner. Twitter could not have succeeded without you.”The announcement comes after Recode claimed that the COO had been ‘demoted’, after some responsibility was shifted away from Rowghani. It may now have been the case that the responsibility was simply moved ahead of the resignation becoming public knowledge.
