Communications and entertainment provider TalkTalk has launched a new TV player in order to deliver more on-demand entertainment options to 1m+ YouView TV equipped homes.

TalkTalk Player will play host to a movie rental service incorporating some of the latest cinematic releases such as The Wolf of Wall Street, American Hustle and 12 Years A Slave.

It also incorporates a new ‘included channels’ feature where viewers can browse an archive of over 500 films and 100s of hours of on-demand programming.

Other new functionality to be introduced includes an enhanced search to find content by title, actor, director or keyword; a watchlist to archive content of interest and a recommendations section to identify similar shows.

Viewers will also benefit from continuous play of box sets, a most popular section and the ability to pause a programme mid-way through to resume viewing at a later date.

Tristia Harrison, Managing Director for Consumer at TalkTalk commented: “YouView from TalkTalk is fast becoming a destination for family entertainment and our all-new TalkTalk Player offers more of the best TV and movies at a cost viewers can control. We've made our on-demand movies, kids and Sky entertainment library bigger than ever and the TalkTalk Player is faster, and smarter, making it easier to find shows and films you want to watch."

Roll out will take place between 11-17 June.
