Former Hulu executive Patricia Parra joins Shazam as chief marketing officer

Shazam has confirmed that Patricia Parra has joined the company in the role of chief marketing officer, reporting directly to CEO Rich Riley.

“Patricia’s extensive background in television, her track record leading innovative and creative global campaigns, as well as her understanding of digital entertainment platforms makes her an ideal addition to our leadership team,” said Riley.

“There’s no one better than Patricia to translate Shazam’s value for television and other real life use cases and increase engagement among our hundreds of millions of users. She will be critical to our success as we rapidly innovate to connect our users with the world around them.”

As CMO Parra is tasked with driving Shazam’s brand vision, crafting its marketing and communications strategies and leading the overall marketing function for the company. She is also charged with enriching Shazam’s user experience to deliver increased benefits to its 450 million current users.

Parra said she was “incredibly excited” about the new role, commenting: “Shazam already has a strong reputation for a great music discovery experience that sets the standard for others to follow. I look forward to helping Shazam continue to move into new areas and build upon its existing success.”

She has brought with her 15 years’ worth of experience in consumer marketing and digital brands and joins the company from OUYA where she held the same role. Before OUYA Parra worked with Hulu as head of content marketing, leading global brand strategies, prior to that she worked with HBO as part of the digital network distribution team.

The role is based in New York and sees Parra leading Shazam’s continued expansion into multiple entertainment and content services as a global engagement brand.
