Aldi has hired former England football manager turned pundit Graham Taylor to inject a bit of World Cup magic in to its latest ‘Like Brands’ campaign.

Created by McCann Manchester, the 20 second spot sees Taylor sitting in his armchair in front of the TV watching a match whilst comparing a leading cider brand to Aldi’s own brand equivalent.

A well-timed ‘furniture malfunction’ leads Taylor to mutter the immortal line ‘Do I not like that’.

Creative director at McCann Manchester, Neil Lancaster, commented: “The World Cup captivates the attention of the great British public like no other event. Over the past couple of years the Like Brands campaign for Aldi has really captured the imagination of UK consumers.

“We felt it lent itself perfectly to creating a real stand out commercial with a thread of great humour built around a well-known footballing personality who has become a household name for his one liner about his preferences.”

The creative runs from this week (Monday 9 June) across multiple channels including ITV, Channel 4 and Sky.
