PubMatic has appointed Evan Simeone to the company, in the newly created position of vice president of programmatic direct, engineering.

Joining from Organic Motion, where he led the automation of the company’s online advertising workflow and technical integration with third party systems, Simeone will lead PubMatic’s move into automated guaranteed and programmatic direct, which will complement the automation of advertising transactions via real-time bidding (RTB).

Simeone said: “I’ve spent the better part of my career focused on automating workflows for leading publishers, and understand the value of bringing the efficiency of automated execution to high-value premium inventory. I’m excited to be able to bring my skill set and experience to a place that understands programmatic solutions and publisher needs as well as PubMatic does. I can’t imagine a better match.”

Based in New York, he will be the first role in the agency dedicated specifically to programmatic direct innovation in the ad tech industry.

Kirk McDonald, president at PubMatic, said: “As the adoption of programmatic tools continues to accelerate, we know that our customers are increasingly seeking intuitive, well designed, programmatic solutions for their direct inventory, and Evan is just the person to help us deliver them to market.”

Simeone will report into Mukul Kumar, PubMatic’s co-founder and senior vice president of engineering.
