Guests at the Italian MotoGP were given an insight into what a rider sees when speeding around the track at 200mph, thanks to Oculus Rift headsets.

Italian communications agency Assistgroup, who was promoting the partnership between Italian mobile network TIM and Motorcycle company Ducati, had tasked content specialists Visualise to film two laps around the world-famous Mugello circuit from a rider’s point of view.

Henry Stuart, founder of Visualise, said: “This kind of experience is what VR is made for - putting people in those VIP situations they would never ordinarily be able to experience in the flesh. The technical challenges to achieve this though are immense, we had to test and build a number of helmet mounts and try multiple different camera formations to achieve the final result.”

Using the headsets and 360 degree technology, guests could turn their head and look in any direction they wished around the rider, without lag.
