Over half a million social media messages sent to honour D-Day
Over half a million (595,409) tweets were sent in the run up to D-Day, with 33 per cent of the conversation commemorating the event and honouring those servicemen who took part, research from Crimson Hexagon's ForSight platform has found.There was also a theme of sharing memories across the generations, with 20 per cent of the conversation focusing on learning about the events of D-Day from older family members who took part.@Poppypride1’s tweet honouring D-Day veterans was the most re-tweeted, while @ HistoricalPics picture of the landings in Normandy was the piece of memorabilia most re-tweeted.
