Creative agency Geometry Global has hired Georgia Barretta-Whiteley, previously design director at Saatchi & Saatchi X, as head of design.

Barretta-Whiteley will be responsible for the development and direction of Geometry's design department and will report into its UK chief creative officer Daniel Hennessy and CEO Sarah Todd.

Hennessy said: "As we continue to define our unique proposition, it is critical that we have the design and craft skills to support our strategic and creative ambition. It's here that Georgia's depth of experience will bolster our work in multiple disciplines, categories and channels."

Barretta-Whiteley has spent the last three years at Saatchi & Saatchi X in London, where she was credited with setting up the agency's 2D and 3D design department.

In her 13 years in the industry she has also worked for Saatchi & Saatchi offices in Geneva, Zurich and Paris and held other design roles in New York and New Zealand.

She said of her new post: "I'm passionate about the role design can play in transforming an agency’s creative product and the worlds brands inhabit. With such a rich roster of through-the-line clients, Geometry represents an opportunity to build a unique competitive advantage by putting craft and design firmly at the heart of the agency’s offering.”

Barretta-Whiteley was a juror for the 2014 D&AD and Roses Creative Awards and writes the best shops in the world column for The Drum.
