British Airways has released a new smartphone app in response to data which suggested the number of people booking via mobile devices has increased 290 per cent in two years.

The app, available on iOS and Android, has aimed to be more “intuitive” to the customer journey, placing the most relevant information to them at a given time at the top of a timeline.

The background image will also change to reflect the stage of a journey, their next flight and flight information

“At British Airways, we have a long history of innovating and introducing the latest technology to help our customers,” explained Kevin McQuillan, head of ba.com. “This latest app is another way we are making travel easier by delivering the latest and most relevant information to our customers at the tap of a finger.”

The app comes as part of a wider £5bn investment in aircraft, cabins, lounges, and technology.
