Former Co-operative Bank PR head Patrick Tooher joins Citypress to head up financial services practice
Citypress has named former Co-operative Bank PR head Patrick Tooher as director and head of its financial services practice.
Appointment: Patrick Tooher
Tooher, also a former business editor at the Mail On Sunday, joined the Co-operative in 2010 after five years as head of UK Media relations at KPMG.
Prior to that, Tooher built 16 years of experience in the media, and held stints as a financial journalist at the Independent, Sunday Express, Daily Express and Investors Chronicle.
Martin Currie, managing director of Citypress, said: “Patrick is one of the market’s most experienced practitioners, combining board-level communications expertise with senior editorial insight.
“His appointment adds further bandwith to our leadership team at a time of growth for the agency, while adding significant value to clients across the network.”
Tooher will join the agency’s leadership team and its crisis management team, as well as overseeing the financial services practice, which provides services for brands in business and personal finance.
Tooher added: “Having spent my career in senior media and in-house roles, I’m excited about the opportunity to bring those skills to bear inside an agency like Citypress, whose focus on senior consultancy, break-through campaigning and quality content is a strong fit with my expertise.”
The announcement follows a PR contract win for the agency with the Post Office for its financial services business.
