Samsung has filed a trademark application for ‘Gear Blink’ in Korea, which could indicate that the technology company is looking to rival Google Glass in the augmented reality headset field.

According to The Guardian, the smartglasses will be added to Samsung’s ‘Gear’ line of wearable devices, which currently includes the Samsung Gear Fit and Samsung Gear 2.

The patent application for Gear Blink showed a headset with a small heads up display (HUD) mounted on a glasses frame.

The Korean tech giant has also reportedly published a patent for a set of wearbale augmented glasses, one of which would project a virtual keyboard onto the wearers hands.

The Samsung Gear Blink could possibly on sale as early as September this year, while Google Glass went on general sale in the US last week.
