Twitter is said to be in talks to buy SoundCloud, the audio clips website which allowed bands, DJs and others to upload content - but German media is reporting that a deal will not be made.

The Berlin start-up SoundCloud is described by some as the ‘YouTube of audio’, and has over 250 million users worldwide.

It has been suggested that Twitter is looking into the audio clips service following the failure of Twitter Music, but both Twitter and SoundCloud are refusing to comment on the rumours.

However, German news website Spiegel Online has stated that an offer has not been made for SoundCloud and that ‘people familiar with the matter’ have revealed that Twitter has ‘definitely decided against it.’

This comes the day after YouTube is said to be considering buying video game streaming company Twitch for over $1bn, and Facebook looks at creating its own video-sharing app.
