Facebook’s premium video ads are being rolled out today, the social giant has revealed, launched by a select group of advertisers in Canada, UK, Germany, France, Brazil, Japan and Australia.

Launching following a trial in December, and a US launch in March, the 15-second video ad will start playing without sound as it appears on screen and stop if people scroll past.

The company said: “In the launch of the new countries we will focus on maintaining consistency on the creative expectations and quality controls and work with all of our partners to provide guidance to execute those campaigns effectively.”

Facebook also revealed that it is rolling out new video metrics globally in Page Insights and Ads Reporting for all videos uploaded to Facebook.

The company explained in a blog post: “Video metrics will be available for all paid and organic videos uploaded directly to Facebook Pages, including Premium Video Ads. The metrics will roll out gradually over the coming weeks.”
