Parklife festival organisers apologise for sending marketing text from 'mum'
The organisers of the Parklife festival in Manchester have apologised for a marketing stunt which saw them send a text which claimed to be from the recipient’s mums.
The text, which stated that it was from 'mum' was aiming to sell tickets to the event, read: "Some of the Parklife after parties have already sold out. If your going, make sure your home for breakfast.”
Complaints were made from some who received the text, who were left confused and distressed having overcome the death of their mothers, according to reports.
A statement from the festival organisers apologised to any recipient for their "unnecessary personal distress" and explained that they were attempting an “irreverent way to engage with festival-goers".
The event takes place Saturday 7 June and Sunday 8 June with Foals and Snoop Dogg set to headline.
