News UK has hired Tracey Hart in a bid to improve its print and distribution services.

Appointment: Tracey Hart

A statement from the publisher said that while its print and distribution arm already prints 1.2 billion copies each year - a mix of its own titles and other publishers’ titles such as the Financial Times, Daily Telegraph, Metro and Evening Standard – it still has “extensive capacity” remaining for more orders.

Hart, a former head of sales and marketing mail publisher solutions at DMG Media, has been brought in to grow existing contracts and bring in new custom.

Chris Taylor, chief operating officer at News UK, said: “While we embrace and adapt to the digital media age there is still a strong demand for printed media and our confidence is demonstrated through our investment in our print operations.

“Tracey brings a wealth of sales, marketing and strategic business development experience and she will be a real driving force maximising every opportunity to expand this important part of our business.”

News UK’s print and distribution service delivers to more than 55,000 outlets in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and more than 16,000 homes in London.
