ITV saw net advertising revenue grow by 2 per cent during its last quarter, the same amount as the broadcaster's total external revenue, which reached £585m, although it has predicted an increase of advertising revenue by up to 13 per cent during the next quarter.

The company has revealed that its broadcast and online revenues increased by 3 per cent to £480m, while online, pay and interactive revenue was up by 14 per cent.

Non-net advertising revenue dipped slightly by 1 per cent on the previous year to £282m, while revenue for ITV Studios was down by 4 per cent to £192m.

Meanwhile, during the first half of its financial year, the commercial broadcaster has forecast an increase of 7 per cent for its Family net advertising revenue.

Adam Crozier, CEO of ITV, said that the company was "making progress" in rebalancing the business in the UK and internationally, and was on track to deliver £10m of cost savings.

"Broadcast and Online started the year well, helped by another strong performance in Online, Pay and Interactive and by the ongoing improvement in the UK advertising market, with most sectors showing good growth," he continued.

"While ITV Family share of viewing has been lower than expected so far this year we have confidence in our strong schedule to come, including the Football World Cup in June. ITV Encore - our first pay channel - is on track to launch in June, followed later in the year by ITVBe, our first new Free To Air Channel in almost a decade.

"As always, Studios revenues are impacted by phasing of programme deliveries, however given the level of forward visibility we have in our Studios business, we are confident of delivering good revenue growth over the full year driven by the acquisitions we have made," he added.

He also highlighted the recent acquisition of US production company Leftfield Entertainment, and added that advertising revenue for the second quarter was forecast to increase by between 12-13 per cent, with the FIFA World Cup a major factor.

Yesterday, it was reported that ITV could charge as much as £300,000 for a 30-second advert during its coverage of the World Cup this summer.
