David Karp, founder and head of Tumblr has revealed, almost a year after the photo sharing site was acquired by Yahoo, that search giant has "lived up to everything they promised", and that he has no regret.

Speaking to the New York Times, Karp admitted that he had been 'terrified' when going into the deal. “But now I am thrilled. We are incredibly happy and productive," he added.

The microblogging platform, which sold for $1.1bn, has seen a 22 per cent increase in users, comScore has found.

“The most terrifying thing to me was that this would change the company in any way,” Karp revealed in the interview.

He insists, however, that Tumblr is still autonomous: “We’re our own shop. We have our own leadership, and we’re doing things our own way,”

Mark Coatney, who previously managed Tumblr’s media and business partnerships, suggested that Tumblr is a 'hard sell' to advertisers, because no email addresses are gathered.

To this, Karp said that user experience is more important, and revealed that new mobile features are in development.
