Amazon users can now add products to their cart via Twitter, the company has revealed.

The new #AmazonCart tool only works when a user connects their Twitter and Amazon accounts. By replying with #AmazonCart to any tweet containing an Amazon product link, the product is then added to your shopping cart.

Amazon explained: “Replying with "#AmazonCart" will only save the item to your Cart. You can always review or edit your Cart at a later time. You will also receive a reply tweet from @MyAmazon describing the status of your request (for example, whether the item was successfully added to your Cart, if it was out of stock, or how you can finish checking out later).”

Earlier this year, it was suggested that Twitter was looking into letting users purchase products directly from the site. This comes following a failed in-platform payment attempt with Ribbon.
