Mindshare UK’s head of mobile, James Chandler, has been promoted to the post of global mobile director as his remit expands to encompass the globe.

The WPP owned media agency will not bring in a dedicated UK director to replace Chandler, with the role instead being subsumed into the wider global strategy.

Chandler will oversee Mindshare’s regional experts to deliver mobile solutions and will head up the agency’s Mobile Garage initiative, a Google collaboration designed to aid clients seeking to harness mobile expertise.

Norm Johnston, chief digital officer at Mindshare Worldwide said: “James brings a wealth of mobile expertise to our global clients in a space that is arguably the most disruptive force in marketing since the birth of the commercial Web in 1994."

Chandler, who was voted into The Drum’s Mobile Top 50, will work alongside Jeff Malmad, Mindshare North America mobile director and Atibhi Mehra, Mindshare’s APAC mobile lead.
