Paddy Power has launched the ‘Ball of Shame Player of the Year Awards’ with a 30-second TV ad typical of the bookmakers tongue-in-cheek brand ethos.

Airing for the first time during the Liverpool vs Manchester City game yesterday (Sunday 13 April), the ad – created by Crispin Porter + Bogusky - is the fourth and final creative to come from Paddy Power’s ‘Ball of Shame’ campaign, capping off a season’s worth of activity designed to showcase the mad and bad behaviour in top flight football.

Over the last nine months Paddy Power has been unlocking offers and deals for football fans whenever clubs and players step out of line, with Money Back Specials for players fighting, free bets for red cards, enhanced odds for manager sackings, and even a special offer for Newcastle fans after Alan Pardew’s touchline headbutt.

With the season drawing to a close Paddy Power has revealed it’s now time to crown some of the league’s biggest ‘scumbags and sinners’ with the TV as running down some potential categories including ‘Most Grotesque Automobile’, ‘Best Worst Role Model’, ‘Most Entertaining Punch-up’ and ‘Teammates Mum Award’.

A Paddy Power spokesperson said: “The final instalment in this season’s ‘Ball of Shame’ campaign showcases the guys who have taken it to another level during the last nine months and we’ll be rewarding fans who get involved and nominate their top #BallofShame moments.”

Fans can submit their ‘Ball of Shame’ moments using the #BallofShame hashtag on Twitter. The very best/worst will then be picked with the award winners showcased across Paddy Power’s blog and social media channels.
