Fujitsu has announced that its marketing director Simon Carter has joined the UK and Ireland executive team as the Japanese firm looks to refine its business strategy.

Tasked with enhancing the reputation of the Fujitsu brand in the UK, Carter will be responsible for driving new business wins, and strengthening relationships with existing customers.

Fujitsu said that the role of a “strong” marketing voice on the executive team has become “increasingly important”.

Duncan Tait, head of EMEIA, corporate senior vice president, Fujitsu, said: “The decision to bring marketing into my executive team, is a recognition of the strong results that we have seen from the function over the past year, and the skills that I believe we need for the next chapter of our evolution.

“Simon’s past experience at this level will set him in good stead for the opportunities that I see ahead, as we seek to set ourselves apart from our competition as one of the world’s leading ICT companies, and to be seen as one of the most responsible businesses in this country”.

Carter, who has been with Fujitsu for over four years, will continue to lead marketing activity in the UK and Ireland, reporting jointly to Claus-Peter Unterberger, vice group head, global marketing group, Fujitsu, and Duncan Tait, head of EMEIA, Fujitsu.
