Conservative vice-chair sacked over Maria Miller resignation tweet
Conservative Party vice-chair Michael Fabricant has been sacked following publication of a tweet suggesting that he was pleased his colleague Maria Miller had been forced to resign from her position as culture secretary and outspoken opposition to HS2.The comments prompted party chiefs to ask him to resign, when he refused they promptly sacked him, leaving the bumbstruck MP to take to Twitter in consternation.Fabricant tweeted: “"Been asked to resign as Vice Chairman, refused, so sacked over HS2 and my views on a recent Cabinet Minister. Still available 4 speeches etc."It wasn’t all bad news for Fabricant however, as the news sent his Twitter followers soaring.
The great thing about being sacked is that I have got a 1,000 more followers on twitter in just a few hours!
