AOL has expanded its technology news website Engadget with the launch of a bespoke UK edition.

Featuring a mix of news, reviews, and opinion on gadgets, apps and services, the new site will concentrate on British and European products headed up by Matt Brian and Jamie Rigg.

New content areas for the UK edition include showcasing recommendations for apps, games and streaming media, with the site continuing to offer content from the wider Engadget team.

Graham Moysey, head of international at AOL, said: “At AOL we are focused on building global brands and platforms and Engadget is very central to this strategy. We have a powerful portfolio of tech brands that we believe can be localised in a number of markets and we’re extremely proud to launch a UK edition of a world renowned site in a market where both consumers and advertisers have a great appetite for gadgets and tech.”

The UK version is the fifth international edition outside the US and comes on the back of a number of recent AOL announcements in the market, including the launch of premium video platform AOL On.
