Amazon is set to reveal a video-streaming device at a press conference in New York later today, with signs pointing towards this being either a dongle or a box.

It has been hinted that the device will let users stream video to their TVs from Amazon's video library – with Amazon having bought over Lovefilm -, as well as from services such as Netflix and Hulu.

Having changed the name of Lovefilm to Amazon Instant Video and introducing a ‘paid for’ section as well as the titles included for free in a cheaper membership, this could be the next move from Amazon to ramp up its entertainment package.

Peter Larsen, vice president of the company's Kindle division, will provide an update on Amazon's video business at today’s event.

Sources told The Wall Street Journal that Amazon is "considering an advertising-supported streaming television and music-video service". At the moment there are no ads on the Amazon Instant Video package.

The announcement begins at 11am ET (4pm GMT): stay tuned for the reveal.
