The three entrepreneurs behind two of the year’s biggest agency acquisition deals - Robin Grant of We Are Social, Martin Boddy of Jaywing and Rob Shaw of Epiphany – are going to be sharing their experiences at this year’s Agency Acceleration Day, a full-day conference focusing on agency growth and development taking place in London in May.

In December Grant sold his agency We Are Social to Blue Focus for more than £30m, while just last week Martin Boddy’s Jaywing agency acquired Epiphany, headed up by CEO Rob Shaw, for £18m and the three main protagonists in those deals are going to be giving their insights into how they have built and ultimately sold their agencies as part of a broad line-up of sessions during the day.

The Drum Network launched its Agency Acceleration Day last year aimed at giving ambitious agency owners and directors an opportunity to escape the day to day running of their agency to spend a full day immersing themselves in strategies and tactics to build a highly successful agency business.

Speaking after attending last year's conference Andrew Brittain, MD of Advantec, said: "I haven't been to many events where there has been such a wealth of agency experience to learn from. The whole day was packed full of incredibly useful, insights and advice. I'll definitely return to future events and I'd strongly recommend anyone who runs an agency, perhaps except my closest competitors, attend too.”

This year’s speaker line-up promises to deliver interesting and helpful insights into all areas of running, leading, building and selling a successful marketing agency business. As well as buying and selling agencies, sessions at this year’s Agency Acceleration Day also include:

  1. New business development
  2. Clients behaving badly
  3. Does agency size matter
  4. Managing your Talent
  5. Do you need a boss?
  6. How to expand your agency offering
  7. Preparing for exit

Richard Draycott, associate editor of The Drum and MD of The Drum Network, said: “I’m really looking forward to hosting this year’s conference as we have some fantastic speakers, who are going to deliver some very useful insights into the many challenges that ambitious agency owners and directors face. I’m delighted to have the people behind two of the most exciting independent agency deals of the year coming along to talk through their experiences, which I’m sure will be both very interesting and inspiring for all agency owners who come along on the day.

"The Drum Network, which helps agencies to build their profile, knowledge and value, now hosts 30 agency developments events across the UK a year now, but the Agency Acceleration Day in May offers agency owners the opportunity to step away from their business for a full day to think solely about where their agency is today, where they want to take it in the future and, by listening to our speakers and chatting to other ambitious agency owners, how they are going to get there."

The full day conference is taking place at America Square Conference Centre, with a special breakfast session on NLP in new business kicking off early at 8am. The main conference agenda starts at 9am.

Early Bird tickets are available to buy now priced at £350 up until Thursday 10 April. Members of The Drum Network and RAR can buy discounted Early Bird tickets priced at £250.
