The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) has worked with Precedent to create its new website inspired by the modular, precise design of the iconic architectural style of 5 Broadgate, designed by Make Architects.

The project began with a three year digital strategy from the CIBSE from Precedent supporting its broader IT strategy. In addition to being fully responsive the site also features a bespoke e-commerce platform and content which was previously housed on a separate site.

The new site aims to promote CIBSE as the first choice for building services engineering with information and support for members. It features a modern design, improved user navigation and tablet and smartphone optimisation.

Of the project, Precedent’s art director and creative lead David Curless said: “Walking past the construction site at 5 Broadgate every morning obviously had a deeper effect on me than I realised. We wanted to give CIBSE a crisp contemporary web design that reflected the precise quality and attention to detail expected from members of the institution. The rectilinear architectural style created by Make Architects for the new Broadgate building gave me inspiring design cues to work with.”

The new site lays the foundation for CIBSE to deliver future digital benefits supported by the implementation of a new CRM system that will deliver greater personalisation, improved e-commerce, and further integration of CIBSE’s service offering, including CPD and certification.
