Russia Today’s YouTube channel was suspended temporarily after being flagged for ‘multiple or severe violations of YouTube's policy against spam, gaming, misleading content, or other Terms of Service violations.’

The brief shutdown affected viewers on Tuesday between 07:00 and 10:00 in the morning but Google has given no official word on why access was revoked.

Head of social media at RT Ivor Crotty added ‘As a world leading news producer on YouTube we value timely information and regret the service fail to the half-million people logging on this morning. We look forward to clearing this up ASAP.’

It isn’t the first time RT’s YouTube service has been interrupted, a similar incident occurred in 2005, forcing YouTube to concede they had made an error and apologise.
