Starbucks is gearing up to trial a mobile app that lets customers create their order in advance, with the aim that it will be ready once they arrive in-store.

The coffee chain is understood to have attributed the reason for the app’s creation to meeting demand from customers who have complained they are fed up of waiting in long queues.

On Wednesday (19 March) the company will update its iPhone app to include tipping options, so that customers can leave tips for barrista staff directly via their mobiles.
