The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust has announced stationary retailer Paperchase to sponsor Shakespeare Week, the campaign which looks to bring the work of the playwright to life for children.

The retailer is also sponsoring the Shakespeare charity’s family programme of events for Shakespeare Week in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Jacqueline Green, Head of Learning and Participation at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust said, “We are delighted to welcome Paperchase as one of our lead partners in Shakespeare Week. The support of Paperchase, with a national competition and its strong high street profile, will help us to build public awareness of Shakespeare Week and provide activities for families to continue their Shakespearean adventures.”

The competition which Paperchase is running sees the retailer inviting children to design Shakespeare-inspired postcards, the winner of which will see their postcard printed and on sale in selected UK Paperchase stores.

Joe Irons, marketing director at Paperchase, added: “We are very proud to support Shakespeare Week. Paperchase prides itself on creativity and imagination, two of the qualities at the heart of Shakespeare’s enduring appeal. We look forward to working with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust to give a whole new generation the opportunity to be part of something that is embedded in our cultural history.”

Shakespeare Week runs between 17 and 23 March 2014.
