The IAB has appointed Talksport international commercial director, Kurt Edwards, and Matt Whaley, CEO of Jemm Media, as the co-chairs of its Audio Council.

Launched in April 2013, the Audio Council acknowledges the growing significance of audio within the digital landscape and is made up of online pure players, radio brands, creative specialists and technology providers.

“The digital audio landscape is evolving quickly and I am delighted to be working with Matt and other council members to help accelerate its appeal to advertisers and agencies alike. Targeted audio with compelling content and supporting display is a powerful mix and an exciting opportunity for clients,” said Edwards of the appointment.

2014 sees the IAB Audio Council follow up on the launch of the Big Audio Handbook at the end of 2013 with a research piece designed to showcase the opportunities for brands in the audio space. The research will be one of the main focuses for the council with its members poised to speak at a variety of industry events and on IAB platforms to increase knowledge of the space.

Brands including Absolute Radio, Bauer Radio, Deezer, Global Radio, Myspace, Soundcloud, Spotify and YouTube all have members in the IAB Audio Council.
