The Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA) is launching a new series of conferences and awards schemes for PR professionals across the UK in May and The Drum Network, the organisation that helps marketing services agencies to boost their own profile, has signed up as media sponsor to support the events.

The PRCA DARE Events programme will consist of five DARE conferences and award programmes held in five cities across the UK – Edinburgh, Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds and Brighton – with each conference being tailored to specifically address the key themes affecting all PR professionals; specifically the future of new business, talent and regional benchmarking.

The content and speakers for the conferences, which kick-off in Edinburgh on Thursday 29th May, is currently being compiled and details will be available on the PRCA’s website.

The DARE Awards will take place on the evening of each DARE Conference and will include categories such as the Consumer Relations Award, Digital and Social Strategy Award, Corporate, Financial and Stakeholder Relations Award, Public Sector and Third Sector Award and In-house Team of the Year Award among others.

The awards are open to all parties involved in the use of PR for communications purposes, including: PR consultancies, In-house communication departments, digital agencies, marketing teams and media owners.

Deadline for entry to the awards is Thursday 27th March and entry costs £60 + VAT.

Francis Ingham, director general at the PRCA, said: “The newly formed DARE Awards recognise excellence within the regions of England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Some great work is being done outside London, and we look forward to celebrating that fact and recognising excellence at the 2014 DARE Awards ceremonies. The National PRCA Awards recognise the cream of nationwide PR. You can enter both.”

Outlining why The Drum Network is supporting the DARE initiative, managing director of the Network and associate editor of The Drum, Richard Draycott, said: “As an industry sector PR is going through huge changes at the moment as the entire human race learns new ways to communicate in the digital and social media age. As an industry there are many big challenges that PR practitioners need to get together to debate and address and this series of five DARE events across the UK will provide the perfect forum for those discussions to take place and The Drum and The Drum Network are delighted to be involved.”

The DARE Conferences are also being supported by headline partner markettiers4dc and other partners include Capstone Hill Search, FirstPointPrint, Kingston Smith W1, Lewis Silkin, National Apprenticeship Scheme and Creative Process, Prospect Resourcing and PR Newswire.

Full details of the DARE Conference and Awards are available on the PRCA website.
